Arntson leads Dirtbags to championship

Former Fruitport standout Patrick Arntson has shined for his summer league baseball team, the West Michigan Riptide Dirtbags. Arntson, a first baseman, cranked a home run during the Dirtbags' 8-1 victory over another West Michigan All-Star team, the Mudskippers, during the title game of the Extra Innings Wood Bat Invitational on Sunday at Marsh Field in Muskegon.

Arnston recently wrapped up a solid junior season with his college team, Upper Iowa University. He tallied the second-highest batting average on the squad with a .328 mark, and led the Peacocks in runs (31), home runs (4), and total bases (76).

Upper Iowa is a Division 2 program located in Fayette, Iowa.

Arntson previously played two seasons at Muskegon Community College.
