Bucs' Yoas to play lacrosse at Aquinas

Recent Grand Haven High School graduate Mackenzie Yoas signed a letter of intent to play lacrosse at Aquinas College last week. "Mac is a student-athlete we are very familiar with,' said Aquinas coach Frank Rogers. "She has been playing on my travel team the last three years, and we have watched her grow into a very good player and leader.' Yoas, a member of the National Honor Society, was named to the Michigan All-State and U.S. Lacrosse All-American academic teams.

On the field, the former Buccaneer was a three-time all-conference selection. She led the Buccaneers in goals, ground balls and caused turnovers.

Mackenzie is the daughter of Kim Vincent and Craig Yoas. Her older sister, Andrea, plays at the University of Michigan.

Both Yoas and Buccaneers’ goalie Sarah Shaw were honorable mentions on the all-state team. Shaw, Yoas, Mackenzie Klingenberg and Sandi Fredricks were all-conference selections while the Buccaneers earned academic all-state honors as a team.
