TCKL receives grant to improve softball diamond

The Grand Haven Community Foundation has awarded a grant to Tri-Cities Kids League for improvements to the Spring Lake Middle School softball fields. Funds for this grant were awarded from the Fluor Schwartz Memorial Fund and the Greatest Needs Fund. The grant covers the cost of replacing clay blocks in the infield at the batter's box and the pitching rubber. These improvements help to level the field and stabilize the footing reducing the possibility of ankle and knee injuries and injuries due to bad bounces in the infield.

Tri-Cities Kids League currently has 146 registered girls that use the Spring Lake Middle School’s softball facilities. In addition to the Spring Lake facility, Tri-Cities Kids League repairs and maintains up to 20 other fields in the Tri-Cities area.

The TCKL was formed in 1952 to provide recreational baseball and softball to the children in the Tri-Cities area.  Each year, TCKL registers nearly 1,000 kids from T-ball to high school level.  In addition, the league employs approximately fifty kids, ages 12-17 years old, as umpires.
