GH native conquers Deer Creek Challenge in Colorado

Bryan Muri prides himself as an ultra cyclist, competing in events of 100 or more miles, and many times, riding throughout a 24-hour time period. He's already completed a 24-hour event at the Rocky Hill mountain bike race in Texas, as well as several other grueling mountain bike races. Muri's latest conquest of 100 miles only took him 6 hours, 11 minutes to complete, but the stage of the Deer Creek Challenge in Littleton, Colo., was excruciating.

Touted as the toughest century ride in America with nearly 13,000 feet of elevation gain in the Deer Creek Canyon, the Aug. 21 event stood as one of Muri’s most impressive conquests on his bike.

The Grand Haven native and 2000 Lakeshore Academy graduate finished 10th overall out of approximately 3,000 competitors in the non-sanctioned event.
