In the Main & Jib Fleet, Avanti won all three races for a total of three points. CC Rider was next with six points, followed by Blue Lady with 11.
The end of the Gift of Life Regatta marked the end of the Grand River Sailing Club’s three summer series’. The final standings in the Spinnaker Fleet show Denny Dryer’s Frank Lloyd Starboard on top with a total of 16 points. Heart Throb was second with 18 points, followed by Stringray, Surface Tension, JetStar and Monkey Wrench.
The Main & Jib Fleet was won by Avanti with nine points. Next was CC Rider with 16 points, followed by Far Niente, Blue Lady, ChoZen and Peggy Dash.
Next up is a four-race fall series, beginning with a race on Wednesday and continuing with outings on Sept. 7, 14 and 21.
On Saturday, several area boats celebrated the 10th annual Commodores Invitational, which began at the Grand River north pier and ended at the Muskegon south pier.
The overall winner was Que Loco, owned by Brad Dykstra of the Muskegon Yacht Club.
Former GRSC members Eric Landman aboard Ticklish and Dave Timmer and his Desperado won their sections.
GRSC boats came in strong in the Spinnaker section three, where Mac McCleland’s Jetstar, Denny Dryer’s Frank Lloyd Starboard, Tom Morell’s Surface Tension and Brian Zylstra’s Breakaway finished second through fifth, respectively.
GRSC racers dominated the Jib & Main Fleet. Buzz Russell’s Avanti took first place, winning the Vice Commodores Trophy, followed by Marc Bedrosian’s Ozymandias second and Jack Kelley’s C.C. Rider third.
