Swim and dive roundup: Lakers pull out exciting win

Spring Lake pulled out an exciting victory over the co-op team from Mona Shores/Reeths-Puffer on Thursday at the Spring Lake Aquatic Center by a 93.5-91.5 final. "This was a very close meet, too close for comfort,' Spring Lake coach Nikkie Theune said. "Tonight's win didn't just come down to getting first place finishes, it was the seconds, thirds, fourths and fifths that really stepped up to the plate tonight and brought the win home. I am very proud of every one of them.'

Jaylen Adkins had a stellar meet for the Lakers, turning in great swims in the 200 and 500 freestyle events, as well as a strong effort on the victorious 200 medley relay team that also including Lydia Gleason, Roxane Strobel, and Ginny Cotterall. The 400 freestyle team of Adkins, Hadlee Garrison, Strobel and Cotterall also qualified for the Division 3 state finals with a time of 3:58.55.
