Lakers race to 69-40 victory at Tri-County

Spring Lake scored 41 points in the third quarter alone on its way to a wild 69-40 victory over host Tri-County on Friday. The Lakers scored the final 14 points of the second quarter to lead 28-21 at halftime, then exploded offensively, thanks in part to a rash of Vikings' miscues, in the third. After T.J. Kriger scored on a 68-yard touchdown run early in the third, Tri-County's Connor VanderHyde returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a score.

The Lakers answered right back two minutes later on Cody Berkobien’s 37-yard scoring run. Moments later, the Vikings muffed the kickoff and the Lakers scored on Mitch Kriger’s 5-yard run.

Keegan Wolter added a 3-yard touchdown run less than a minute later for a 56-27 advantage.

“This was the wildest quarter of football I’ve ever been a part of,” said Lakers’ coach Jerry Rabideau, whose team is now 2-2 overall and 2-1 in Lakes Eight play.
