The Buccaneers scored wins over Lowell (25-13, 25-23), Shelby (25-16, 25-20) and Unity Christian (25-6, 25-12) in pool play, then knocked off West Ottawa (25-17, 25-15) in the quarterfinals.
Kristen Reenders had a strong showing for the Buccaneers, finishing with 11 aces, 18 kills and 18 digs. Alli Johnson added nine aces and 51 digs, while Andrea Smith had seven aces and 24 digs.
Jamie Hogeboom handled the setting duties for the Bucs and finished with 117 assists to go with seven aces, seven kills and 22 digs.
Abby Cole paced the Bucs offensively with 43 kills to go with 13 blocks and four aces. Taylor Craymer added 21 kills. Krysteena Davis had 19 kills and seven blocks, while Megan Newhouse had 12 kills and 24 digs.
LAKERS’ JV UNBEATEN
Spring Lake’s junior varsity team went unbeaten at Saturday’s Mona Shores JV/Freshman Invitational, but due to tournament guidelines, the Lakers settled for a fourth-place finish.
Courtney Kyser had 14 blocks for the Lakers, while Kelsee Zuidema totaled 15 kills. Rachel Pennington totaled 22 digs, Sierra Gipson led with 23 assists, and Audrie Dalman had five aces for the Lakers (17-3-3 overall).
