Prep volleyball: Lakers' comeback leads to sweep of Lions

Spring Lake's varsity volleyball team turned in an impressive comeback in Game 2 of its match against Newaygo on Tuesday to key a three-game sweep of the Lions, 25-22, 27-25, 25-18. "In Game 2 we were down 17-12, came back to 20-18, then 24-22 and 24-24 before finally pulling out the win, 27-25,' said Spring Lake coach Sarah Bulthuis. "That showed great focus and perseverance.'

Bulthuis credited senior Evie Lorimer’s serving as a big boost for the Lakers (16-6, 4-1 Lakes Eight) in both Games 2 and 3. She finished with 13 points and six aces, as well as a team-high 12 kills.
