SL’s Rotunda wins sailing title in NY

A total of 45 sailors from five different states competed in the 2011 National MC Championships at Keuka Lake, located near Jamestown, N.Y., last month.

Spring Lake’s Joe Rotunda earned the championship at the event, beating out fellow Spring Lake Yacht Club sailor and defending champion Cam McNeil. McNeil settled for a tie for second place.

Other Spring Lake Yacht Club competitors included Todd Bosgraaf in 12th place, Scott Harestad in 14th and Conner Davis in 35th.

Next year’s Nationals will be held at White Lake Yacht Club on Aug. 22-25, where they hope to set a new world record with 110 boats on the starting line.
