GH hockey club goes 2-1-1 in preseason tourney

The Grand Haven Bucs' Hockey Club played in a preseason tournament at Ludington over the weekend and went 2-1-1.

The Bucs opened with a 5-5 tie against Forest Hills Northern/Eastern. Ryan Henning was solid in net while goals were scored by Ryan Christiansen, Adam Carlisle, Lucas VanHeest, James Calkins and Jake Poel.

Andrew Lafrance, Cole Carlson, Poel and VanHeest provided assists.

The next game was a 2-1 loss to Mona Shores, with Poel scoring the Bucs’ lone goal. In that game, Carlisle was lost to an injury and could miss up to five weeks.

Grand Haven responded with a 3-1 win over Lakeshore/St. Joseph. Zach Hansen played well in goal to earn the win while Calkins, Spencer Paarlberg and Joel Palmateer scored goals. Paarlberg added two assists for the Bucs, while Jake Vallier and Poel also had assists.

The Bucs closed out the tournament with a 2-1 win over Grand Rapids Amateur Hockey Association (GRAHA). Henning earned the win in net while Cole Carlson and Andrew Lafrance scored. VanHeest had an assist.

The Grand Haven Hockey Club, coached by Mike Feasby, is now 2-2-2 in the preseason portion of its schedule.
