Spring Lake's varsity volleyball team wrapped up its regular season with wins over Muskegon and Coopersville at Spring Lake High School. The Lakers downed the Big Reds, 25-12, 25-12, then held off the Broncos, 25-23, 25-22. "This was a goal of ours that we reached by achieving over 30 wins,' said Lakers' coach Sarah Bulthuis, whose team is now 31-10. "In the match against Muskegon, we had great ball control and served tough. We controlled the pace and the match.

“In Coopersville, we were ahead the whole match but let them come back and tie it at 21 and 22, respectively. A few bad passes and missed serves and not being able to put the ball away offensively let the Broncos back in it.

“I was pleased that we were able to finish when the games were close.”

These were the last home games for Lakers’ seniors Evie Lorimer, Hayley Schram, Molly Cooke, Annie Cook, Emma Kendro and Katheryn Rumptz.

WARRIORS UNBEATEN AT QUAD

Western Michigan Christian scored wins over West Michigan Lutheran, Calvary Christian and Zion Christian to finish unbeaten at a home quad on Thursday.

Rachel Bruinsma had a fantastic night offensively, finishing with 38 kills to go along with three blocks.
