By the end of the Bucs’ three-game sweep of the Sailors, the cheer couldn’t have been any further from the truth.

The Bucs received an outstanding performance from sophomore setter Jami Hogeboom; exceptional hustle defense from senior Kristen Reenders; and several clutch kills from another sophomore, Krysteena Davis, to ease the tension in a tight third game and help Grand Haven wrap up the 25-18, 25-18, 25-21 victory — and its fifth-straight district title.

“We’re so much tougher when everyone is clicking,” said Cole, who was still the top player on the floor with 12 kills and eight blocks. “We have a lot of secret weapons on this team.”

The Bucs advance to Tuesday’s regional round at Jenison, where they’ll face the winner of the Traverse City Central district. The other half of the regional will likely feature Rockford, the O-K Red Conference champion and No. 2-ranked team in Class A.
