The Trojans ran away with Game 1, 25-11, then needed an inspired comeback to take Game 2, 27-25. Game 3 saw Fruitport jump up to a big lead, only to have Grant battle back and make things interesting before the Trojans closed things out with a 25-21 win.

Coach Nicole Bayle’s Trojans will face Cadillac in Tuesday’s Class B quarterfinal round at Houghton Lake. Bayle said her team needs to avoid let-downs like they had in Game 2 against the Tigers.

“That was huge for momentum, winning Game 2,” said Bayle, whose team trailed 23-21 before coming back to get the win. “Grant served real tough, and we had some glitches, which are uncharacteristic to us. It was great to see our team fight back.

“We struggle at times, we call putting it in cruise control. It’s something we’re aware of, and we have to get better with in the playoffs.”
