The No. 3-ranked Trojans (49-8) beat the top-ranked Pioneers, 3 games to 2, in their semifinal match at Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek.

Fruitport will face either Tecumseh (55-3-1) at 4 p.m. Saturday for the state title. Tecumseh beat Marysville tonight in the other semifinal.

The championship will also be played in Battle Creek.

Coach Nicole Bayle’s Trojans are the defending Class B state champions and hope to become the first repeat champs in Class B since Marysville won five straight titles from 2000-04. Three of those wins came at the expense of Fruitport.

The Trojans have advanced to the state finals six times since 2001, winning state titles in 2005 and 2010.

Details and photos from tonight's semifinal win will be published in Saturday's Tribune.
