Shedd is Tribune's local winner in Power Points contest

What's next for Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos' offense - the wishbone? No college team has called Denver home since 1960 when the University of Denver discontinued the sport. But in the past two weeks, it's BAAAACK via University of Florida Heisman Trophy winning QB Tebow. What's going on here?

An offense featuring a primarily running quarterback and even the triple option — hand to fullback, take it yourself or pitch to the running back — hasn’t exactly been the blueprint for an NFL offense, but Tebow has translated the formula into two straight division road wins — something even John Elway never did. Here’s something else Elway never did:  complete only two passes in an NFL game. That was Tebow on Sunday, although one went for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Can that Florida magic work in the NFL? We’ll see.

However, we didn’t have to wait for Florida magic in Week 10 of the Power Points Football Contest.  A contestant from Marianna, Fla., Jean Upford, tallied 120 of the possible 136 points in an upset-riddled week to claim grand prize honors and the accompanying cash bonanza of $1,000.

She entered the contest through the the Jackson County Floridan newspaper in Marianna.

The Tribune’s local winner was Dewyne Shedd, who scored 102 points. Shedd did not submit an address or telephone number with his entry.
