GH hockey beats FHC, goes to 4-0

Grand Haven's varsity hockey team improved to 4-0 on the season with a 4-1 road win over Forest Hills Central.

Doug Zelenka scored twice for the Buccaneers, who owned a 26-16 advantage in shots.

Tom Zelenka and Ian Hibbard each added single goals while Tyler Ploeg supplied two assists. Doug Zelenka also set up a goal for the Buccaneers.

Zach Kooi was in goal, making 15 saves to earn the win.

Max Lint scored FHC’s lone goal, while Derek Phelps made 22 saves in net for the Rangers.

Two of the Bucs’ four goals came on the power play.

Grand Haven looks to make it five wins in a row on Wednesday as the Bucs travel north to face Cadillac for a 6 p.m. game. Cadillac handed Grand Haven one of its two losses last winter.
