After scoring an impressive win at Fremont on Friday, the Trojans added to their undefeated start with a solid 37-28 win over Oakridge at Fruitport High School.
The Eagles are coming off an 18-win season and eliminated Fruitport from last year’s district tournament.
Fruitport’s senior guard tandem of Lauren Hazekamp and Amber Carmean shined against the Eagles. Hazekamp had 10 points and nine rebounds, while Carmean added nine points — coming on three 3-pointers.
SL ROLLS PAST ALLENDALE
Spring Lake first-year coach Rich Hyde said he was “shocked” his team was able to hold visiting Allendale to just 13 points on Tuesday.
He was impressed with Allendale in a pair of previous game tapes, but the Lakers’ defense bottled up the Falcons in the 48-13 victory at Spring Lake High School.
Hyde credited the strong interior defense of Evie Lorimer and Jessica Lewakowski, as well as the quickness of Brittany Beeler and Katie Miedema in helping them swarm Allendale’s guards.
Lorimer paced the Lakers with 15 points and six rebounds, while Lewakowski added eight points and six rebounds. Miedema dished off five assists and also snared six boards.
LADY WARRIORS POUND ORCHARD VIEW
Western Michigan Christian’s Lady Warriors again used balanced scoring and good defense to move their season mark to 3-0 Tuesday night with a 40-15 win over Muskegon Orchard View.
Junior Vanessa Eekhoff led the way with a double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds. Rachel Bruinsma and Rachel Karsten each chipped in with eight points.
