GH hockey avenges last season's loss to Cadillac

Goaltender Zach Kooi stopped all 12 shots he faced, helping the Grand Haven varsity hockey team avenge a rare loss from a year ago with a 2-0 victory at Cadillac on Wednesday.

Kooi’s shutout was the Buccaneers’ first of the season and helps Grand Haven improve to 5-0 overall.

Tom Zelenka opened the scoring with a power play goal, assisted by Will Verduin and Doug Zelenka, during the second period.

Doug Zelenka made it 2-0 in the third period, assisted by Ian Hibbard.

Grand Haven held a 22-12 advantage in shots.

The Bucs host Midland Dow on Saturday at 3 p.m. at The Edge Ice Arena in Holland.
