The quick Rockets built a 17-4 first quarter lead, but the Warriors managed to cut it to 31-24 at intermission. The Rockets led 48-36 going into the final period, only to see WMC cut the lead to five. Kelloggsville converted on several free throws in the closing moments to ice the game.
The 6-foot, 6-inch Smith scored a career high 25 points and grabbed a career high 17 rebounds for the Warriors. John Waller chipped in with nine points followed by Henry DeKam with seven.
Junior Varsity: The Warriors went to overtime to defeat the Rockets 61-59. Alex Rop led the way with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists while Jason Normandin had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Chaise Schuitema added 11 points and Sam Mast had 10.
Freshmen: WMC won 48-37. Kyle Kingma scored 14 points while Derrick Holt and Jacob Ray chipped in with eight and seven points respectively.
CALVARY CHRISTIAN FALLS
Fruitport Calvary Christian committed 19 turnovers in a 45-38 loss to Holland Calvary.
Patrick Adsell had 20 points and 19 rebounds for the Eagles, who fall to 1-1 on the season.
Fruitport Calvary Christian takes on rival West Michigan Lutheran on Tuesday.
