With the win, the Chippewas (7-8 overall) start Mid-American Conference play 2-0 for just the third time in the last 21 years.

The guard trio of Derek Jackson, Austin McBroom and Trey Zeigler combined to score 39 of the Chippewas’ 60 points, with Jackson leading the way with a game-high 15. McBroom added 13 and Zeigler 11.

Grand Haven graduate Austin Harper scored 10 points for EMU — one of four Eagles’ players in double figures. Harper started at guard for the Eagles, and added four assists and two rebounds in 33 minutes of action. He also fouled out.
