The Lakers’ Adam Clauss registered a steal and a basket with 12 seconds remaining to draw the visitors to within a point. Coopersville then missed the front end of a one-and-one situation at the foul line, giving Spring Lake a chance at the win.
“Right as we got to about the free throw line, our player got stripped of the ball,” said a disappointed Lakers’ coach Bill Core, whose team is now 5-5. “It was pretty anticlimactic when we were looking for a fantastic finish.”
