The Detroit Tigers’ Winter Caravan will roll through West Michigan on Friday and their visit will include a tour of Hudsonville Ice Cream, which is located at 345 E. 48th Street in Holland.

The Tigers, who will arrive at 9:50 a.m., will tour the facility and try their hand at making ice cream.

The Tigers who may get the chance to satisfy their sweet tooth include players Alex Avila, Duane Below, Casey Crosby, Brandon Inge, Don Kelly, David Pauley, Rick Porcello, Ryan Raburn, Daniel Schlereth, Clete Thomas, Jacob Turner, Adam Wilk and Delmon Young. Coaches scheduled to attend are Tom Brookens, Jeff Jones and Mike Rojas.

The Tigers also will make a stop Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. at the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital, 100 Michigan Street NW in Grand Rapids. The Tigers will participate in the West Michigan Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Business Breakfast before visiting with hospital patients.

The West Michigan Whitecaps have officially announced that manager Ernie Young will return for a second season as manager.

Young, 42, posted a 70-69 record in his first season with the Whitecaps. In October, he managed Team USA to a silver medal in the Pan-Am Games. The Whitecaps begin the 2012 season at home April 9 against Bowling Green.
