Rob Wilkinson, who started at point guard for the junior varsity boys two years ago and played in the Grand Rapids area last year, returned to WMC this fall and is now eligible as a junior. Juniors Henry McGannon and Noah Wildeman have joined the Warriors after transferring from Spring Lake and Grand Haven respectively.

Sophomore center Bernard Smith, who has been averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds for the varsity boys, announced this week he is transferring to Muskegon High School for new opportunities there.

“It was a very difficult choice for the 6-foot, 5-inch, 275-pound center,  but he and his family wanted him to go back to the Muskegon system of which he was a part during his junior high days,” WMC coach Jim Goorman said.

According to assistant athletic director Fred VandenBrand, Smith and his dad, Don, stopped by school Thursday to bid farewell to teammates, classmates, staff and administrators. Both expressed their thanks for a great environment and learning experience during Bernard’s time at WMC.
