Buccaneer icers top Holt, 3-1

Grand Haven's varsity hockey team held a commanding 45-17 advantage in shots on Saturday, and turned that discrepancy into a 3-1 victory over Holt. The Buccaneers improve to 16-4 on the season.

Holt actually got on the board first when Connor Bowman scored past Grand Haven goalie Mark Nalley, who finished with 20 saves.

The Bucs battled back as Chris Corgan, Will Verduin and Doug Zelenka scored consecutive goals to give Grand Haven the win.

Ian Hibbard had two assists for Grand Haven while Tom Zelenka and Patrick Ferris each added assists.

Grand Haven travels to Patterson Ice Arena in Grand Rapids for a conference showdown against Forest Hills Northern/Eastern on Wednesday. The Buccaneers lost to Northern/Eastern earlier this season.
