Bucs’ bowlers clinch regular-season Red title

With Monday's 20-10 victory against visitng East Kentwood, Grand Haven's boys bowling squad clinched sole possession of first place in the O-K Red Conference heading into Saturday's conference tournament at Rockford.

Although the Bucs have struggled in the baker format at times this season, they took control of it against the Falcons, winning all 10 points by outscoring them 188-147 and 186-142.

The two rivals were even in match play at 10-10. Earning points for the Bucs were Nick Laird with a 205 game; Zach Gargano with a 193; and two points from John Morehouse with his games of 192 and 202.

Grand Haven’s girls had an exciting match with East Kentwood that wasn’t decided until the final frame, a 15.5-14.5 Falcons’ win.

The Bucs started strong, taking six baker points from the Falcons. East Kentwood stormed back by dominating the first match play game. Grand Haven outscoredEast Kentwood 705-648 in Game 2, but was dealt a heartbreaking loss.

Lindsey Bronold had a high game of 156 to earn a point for the Bucs, as did Marina Chavez’s effort of 147. Dominique Sauers’ 136 scored a point, as did Becca Hartwell with her game of 117.
