Prep sports roundup: Fruitport wrestlers blanked by Lowell in regional finals

Fruitport's varsity wrestling squad created some excitement with its Division 2 regional semifinals win over Wyoming Rogers.

But the Trojans’ season was quickly snuffed out by No. 2-ranked Lowell, which rolled to the regional title with a 77-0 victory over Fruitport. The Red Arrows recorded 10 pins in 14 bouts to breeze to the title.

The Trojans advanced to the finals with a 46-33 win against Rogers in the regional semifinals.

Fruitport closes its season with an impressive 28-3 record in dual matches.

FOREST HILLS TEAM BEATS GH HOCKEY AGAIN

For the second time this winter, Grand Haven’s varsity hockey team came up short against O-K Tier I rival Forest Hills Northern/Eastern.

On Wednesday, the Buccaneers held a 26-22 advantage in shots, but couldn’t climb out of a 4-1 first-period deficit in a 5-3 loss.
