That hasn’t been an issue during the opening two rounds of the Class A district tournament at Mona Shores High School, as the Bucs have thoroughly dominated.

The Muskegon Big Reds became the Bucs’ latest victim, suffering their third loss of the season to Grand Haven, 68-28.

Grand Haven held a commanding 13-2 lead after one quarter, then put the game really out of reach by extending the advantage to 37-7 at the half. For good measure, Grand Haven’s second- and third-string players outscored the Big Reds 18-8 in the fourth.

“We had 28 field goals and 22 assists,” said Grand Haven coach Katie Kowalczyk-Fulmer, whose No. 1-ranked squad is now 21-1 this season. “We’re really passing the ball well and playing unselfish.”
