The Buccaneers beat league champion Rockford and lost to cellar-dweller Jenison. They went on a streak of six wins over eight games before ending the season with four losses in their last five.

Now the Bucs turn their attention to the Class A district tournament, which begins Monday at Cedar Springs High School. Grand Haven (10-10) opens district play against Kenowa Hills (9-11) on Monday at 5 p.m. The winner of Monday’s game meets Mona Shores (6-14) on Wednesday at 5 p.m., also at Cedar Springs.

The other side of the bracket features Reeths-Puffer (3-15) facing Cedar Springs (9-11) on Monday, with the winner taking on Muskegon (10-10) on Wednesday.

The district title game will take place on Friday at 7 p.m., also at Cedar Springs.

In Class B action, Spring Lake and Fruitport will take part in the Whitehall district.

In Monday’s first-round games, Orchard View (2-17) will meet Oakridge (9-11) at 5:30 p.m., followed by Fruitport (3-17) taking on state-ranked Muskegon Heights (14-6).

The district championship game will be played Friday at 7 p.m. at Whitehall High School.

In Class C play, Western Michigan Christian (5-15) will attempt to put a positive spin on what has been a miserable season. The Warriors received a first-round bye and will meet the winner of Monday’s matchup between Holton (2-18) and Montague (15-5).

The other side of the bracket features North Muskegon (13-7) taking on Ravenna (2-18), while Kent City (8-12) waiting for the winner on Wednesday.
