Kobayashi, an exchange student from Japan, will compete in the 200-yard individual medley and the 100 butterfly at the finals, while Venema will battle in both the 200 and 500 freestyle events.
Grand Haven coach Doug Thorne said the other Bucs at the state finals will be competing in one or more of the team’s three qualified relays. Those individuals include Spencer Poort, Trey Jennings, Rory Thibualt, Austin Bessinger, and Hunter Jonas.
In addition, a pair of Buccaneers’ divers will compete at the state meet after excellent showings at Tuesday’s regional competition at East Kentwood. Casey Carlson placed fifth at the regional competition and Griffin Dwyer took 12th.
