Zacek said his goal going into the finals was to win the 200-yard freestyle, and he accomplished that goal, swimming a time of 1 minute, 41.78 seconds. He easily defeated Cody Wolfrom of Bloomfield Hills Lahser, who was second in 1:44.09.

Later in the meet, Zacek swam to victory in the 100 butterfly. Zacek's time of 51.52 seconds was just a shade faster that St. Joseph's Aaron Moyer, who swam a time of 51.70 seconds.
