Buccaneers advance to Class A title game

Grand Haven is one win away from its first-ever girls basketball state championship following Friday's 43-40 win over Inkster in the Class A semifinals at the Breslin Center in East Lansing.

All-state guards Alex Law and Shar'Rae Davis paced the No. 1-ranked Buccaneers (26-1) with 16 points each.

Center Abby Cole dominated the low post with nine rebounds and 10 blocked shots to go with her five points.

The Bucs held Inkster all-stater Kelsey Mitchell to nine points and 11 rebounds.

Grand Haven will face Grosse Pointe South in Saturday's Class A title game. Grosse Pointe South beat Ann Arbor Huron, 44-41, in the second semifinal game this afternoon.

Grand Haven High School has coordinated spectator buses for Saturday's game in East Lansing. Those students and chaperones who would like to ride a spectator bus should arrive at GHHS by 8:30 a.m. Buses will leave for East Lansing at 9 a.m. The cost is $10 for transportation, and a ticket can be purchased at the game for $8.
