Buccaneers’ sophomore Kerri Burnside scored Grand Haven’s lone goal against the Wildcats. Burnside is one of nine new players on the Haven roster.
Coach Kim Vincent credited defenders Megan VanDoorne, Carlee Klingenberg and Hillary Land with playing well. Land made four interceptions while Klingenberg added two.
Senior goalie Paige Sloan made 13 saves on the 27 shots she faced.
BUCS’ POLO FALLS FLAT AGAINST FALCONS
Grand Haven’s varsity girls water polo squad spotted visiting East Kentwood a 10-0 lead on Monday at the Grand Haven Aquatic Center and the Bucs couldn’t crawl out of the huge hole in their 11-3 loss.
The Bucs showed some signs of fight in the fourth quarter, as they outscored the Falcons, 3-1. The Bucs received goals from Alyssia Land, Katelyn Brolick and Sarah Snider.
