The Lakers trailed 4-0 after the top of the first inning, and were still behind 4-2 entering the bottom of the fifth. That’s when the offense came alive with six runs in both the fifth and the sixth innings.
“We went to some small ball because we weren’t getting things going, and we got some great bunts,” Lakers’ coach Bill Core said. “They threw it around a little bit, then our bats came around and we had a nice combination those last two innings.”
All nine starters had at least one hit for the Lakers, led by all-state senior Evie Lorimer, who had three hits, stole three bases and scored three runs.
