Senior Michael Zietlow had a strong opener for the Lakers, as he went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and also pitched two scoreless innings of relief.

Lakers’ batters drew nine walks against Montague pitchers and also forced the Wildcats’ fielders into several errors.

“I really liked how we put the ball in play,” said Spring Lake coach Brian Sabo.

J.P. Batts went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Noah Ellingboe, Nic Bectel and Jeff Marod each contributed RBI singles.

Brian Chappell got the start on the mound for Spring Lake and allowed just one hit in two innings of work.

The Lakers will now depart for Spring Break but they return to the diamond on April 9 at Coopersville.
