Lacrosse teams struggle against top competition

Spring Lake's varsity boys lacrosse team suffered a pair of losses this week.

The Lakers came up short against Lowell on Tuesday, losing 9-5.

Jack McKeough scored three goals for the Lakers while Harrison Palmer and Tanner Berg each scored once.

On Thursday, the Lakers came up short against Holland Christian, losing 11-4.

Adam Roberge and Hayden Jermstad each scored once, while McKeough had two goals.

GH GIRLS FALL TO CHAMPS

Grand Haven’s varsity girls lacrosse team suffered a 19-5 loss to defending state champion Grand Rapids Catholic Central on Wednesday.

Casey Davis scored twice while Claire Reenders, Lauren Lund and Savannah Albright each scored once. Albright’s tally was her first career goal.

Junior Stephanie Szymas faced 29 shots, making 10 saves.

Emma Saber and Olivia Saber each had an interception, while Hillary Land, Casey Murphy and Albright each had two ground ball controls.

Paige Sloan led the team with three blocks.
