Prep Roundup: SL golf 6th, GH soccer wins

Spring Lake's varsity boys golf team placed sixth out of 11 teams at Friday's Ludington Invitational.

The Lakers shot a team score of 338, well behind champion Mona Shores, which shot a 307. Grandville and Grand Rapids Christian tied for second at 312.

Grand Haven, which brought its ‘B’ team to the tournament, placed ninth with a 366.

Marcus Fry shot a 79 for the Lakers. Luke Platz added an 85, and Ben Kramer carded an 86. Bricker Reed got off to a hot start with a 37 on the front nine, but shot a 51 on the back nine for an 88. Connor Love added a 94.

The Lakers will compete in the Kenowa Hills Invitational today.

Junior Varsity: The Lakers’ Austin Gabris shot a 42 at the Kenowa Hills JV Invitational.

GH SOCCER MERCIES MUSKEGON

Grand Haven’s varsity girls soccer team scored an 8-0 victory over visiting Muskegon on Friday.

Claire Borchers and Courtney Springer each scored two goals and an assist for the Buccaneers.

Mallory Beswick also had a big game with a goal and two assists.

Junior Varsity: Grand Haven shut out Muskegon, 8-0. Sawyer Overway led the Bucs with two goals while Veronica Booth recorded the shutout. Tessa Bathke, Bailey Colella, Alyssa Hayward, Katie Harding, Alexa Hennessy and Maggie LaLonde each had single goals, while Jen Thompson had two assists.
