Ben Kramer earned medalist honors at the event with a 36, while Bricker Reed carded a 37 for the Lakers. As a result, Spring Lake was on top of the team standings with a 154 — five strokes better than the host Orioles. Fremont was third with a 172, followed by Fruitport’s 181, Orchard View’s 184 and Tri-County’s 197.

Spring Lake coach George Bitner said Kramer and Reed excelled in different areas.

“It was pretty unusual. Ben was 2-under at one point and he hit every fairway, and Bricker was just one shot behind him and he only hit two fairways,” said Bitner.

The Lakers’ No. 1 player, senior Marcus Fry, slipped to a 40, while Evan McMillin totaled a 41 and Connor Love shot a 42.

“That’s a nice, close grouping of scores,” Bitner said.

With three jamborees left to play, Spring Lake holds a nine-stroke lead over Ludington, 310 to 319. Frmeont is third at 327 and Fruitport is fourth at 346.
