The free program, which is in conjunction with Grand Haven business MACkite, also gives children the opportunity to test out Hurley’s new boards and meet and surf with Hurley’s professional surf team, including Beau Foster, Taylor Pai, AJ Collins and Noah Snyder.

The event is expected to run from 8 a.m. to noon.

Last year, Hurley pro surfer Timmy Curran was on hand in Grand Haven, but the surfing competition was turned into paddleboarding due to flat conditions on Lake Michigan.

The stop in Grand Haven is one of three in the Midwest for the tour, which is traveling from Traverse City and will proceed to Chicago on Wednesday.

Hurley began as a surfboard shaping factory in California in 1979 and has grown from a small company into an international clothing giant specializing in skateboarding, surfing and music.
