Coach Jerry Rabideau’s team will wear white pants with red tops featuring white stripes on the shoulders.

They’ll also wear new helmets with the players’ numbers featured on each side, as opposed to the traditional “SL” logo.

“We went and looked up a program from 1962, and this is what they wore,” Rabideau said on Monday as his team held its annual photo day. “We’re going with these for our five home games, and the kids love them. Heck, I’d like to keep the numbers on the helmets.”

The players also like the helmets, which have a definite Alabama Crimson Tide look.

“They’re sweet, especially the helmets,” team captain Cody Berkobien said. “We were cross training toward the end of the winter when they told us about (the throwback uniforms). We were pretty excited.”

“This is 50 years (of Spring Lake football), so it’s a pretty big deal,” added captain Jonny Mundt.

The Lakers will hold a celebration for their 50th anniversary of Spring Lake football the weekend of Sept. 14-15.

“It seems like a lot of pressure, especially that one game,” Berkobien said.
