Soccer roundup: SL's Kammeraad notches 6 goals in blowout victory

Kammeraad’s six goals, and three more by K.J. Sanchez, helped the No. 1-ranked Lakers improve to 10-0 on the season and 4-0 in Lakes Eight Conference play.

Kaleb Winter and Nic Ellingboe also scored for the Lakers, who will host Comstock Park on Thursday.

BUCS SALVAGE TIE

A late goal by Grand Haven’s Mike Moran salvaged a 1-1 tie with West Ottawa in O-K Red Conference soccer action on Tuesday.

The Panthers got on the board late in the first half. The Bucs had several chances to tie the game, but didn’t but a ball into the net until Moran’s shot with just 4:38 remaining in the game.

“We’ve got to find ways to make our play more consistent and finish teams off when we get a chance,” said Bucs’ coach Aaron Dean, whose team is now 5-4-2 overall and 1-1-1 in league play.

WMC BLANKS MCC

After battling to a scoreless first half Tuesday, visiting Western Michigan Christian scored twice in the second half for a 2-0 soccer win over River Valley Conference foe Muskegon Catholic Central.

The win puts the Warriors at 5-3-1 on the season and 2-0-1 in league play.

TROJANS CONTINUE TO ROLL

Fruitport won its third consecutive lopsided Lakes Eight Conference contest, beating Fremont on Tuesday, 5-0.

The Trojans, now 6-3-2 overall and 3-0 in league play, held a dominating 15-7 advantage in shots.

Ryan Craker and Taylor McLaughlin scored first half goals, with Dalton Mullennix assisting on Craker’s score.
