The Bucs’ defense sparked the comeback with five interceptions, including two by Nick Mulcahy and one each by Schaefer Thelen, Chase Pego and Matt Olson. The defensive front line of Chase VanHoef, Thomas McWatters, Connor Gundy and Joe Sepeshy brought constant pressure on the Bulldogs’ quarterback, while Matt VanHeest and Austin Rutherford led the team in tackles.

Special teams also rose to the challenge as Zac Marsman, Dillon Housenga and Antonio Reyes made key plays late in the game.

Grand Haven’s freshmen football team suffered a heart-breaking 21-14 loss to Hudsonville as the Eagles scored the winning touchdown with 8 seconds to play. Coach Jeremy Holmes credited Connor Jettner, Andrew Dalman and Reis Lannin with turning in outstanding efforts.
