WMC’s record drops to 8-5-1.

Junior Chaise Schuiteman gave the Warriors a 1-0 halftime lead as he took a pass from freshman Ben Mast and shot it past the keeper with 13 minutes left in the first half.

Elk Rapids came out strong the second half, scoring a goal 11 minutes in and and two more with just over a minute of each other at the midway mark of the half.  They scored again with six minutes remaining and WMC’s Alec Breit end the scoring off an assist from Tyler Cook in the closing moments.

The Elk out shot the Warriors 11-8 and WMC’s Jacob Berens had three saves.

“Today’s game ends a string of nine games in three weeks,” said WMC coach David Hulings. “I think the last 40 minutes showed we were running on empty in the tank.

“It was a good effort today, but we knew when we put the schedule together the game would be tough.”
