SL diver Rubleski qualifies for state finals

Spring Lake's Paige Rubleski qualified for the Division 3 state finals by the slimmest of margins on Tuesday at Hamilton High School, as the sophomore finished in 11th place. The top 12 advances to the Division 3 state finals, which will be held Friday and Saturday at Eastern Michigan University.

Rubleski, who captured the Coastal Conference title in diving on Nov. 3, didn’t turn in her season best on Tuesday, but her score of 291.95 was good enough.
Just missing the cut was the Lakers’ Makayla Boyink, who placed 16th overall with a 268.20.

“I really wanted to be taking both to state, but it is such a stressful and tough day,” said Spring Lake diving coach Barb Brackett. “I’ll have to be happy with only one.”
