SL relays, diver compete at state swim meet

Former Laker Francisco places 13th in diving

Spring Lake’s girls swimming and diving team failed to score a point at this weekend’s Division 3 state meet at Eastern Michigan University, but still put together some impressive swims.

Spring Lake’s 200-yard freestyle relay team placed 21st, led by Ellen Hyde, Sophia Kleinheksel, Roxane Strobel and Jaylen Adkins.

The Lakers’ 200 medley relay team of Adkins, Audrey Gleason, Olivia Kuhn and Kleinheksel took 24th with a time of 2:01.59.

In the diving competition, Spring Lake’s Paige Rubleski placed 18th with 2910.90 points.

A former Laker also had a strong showing this weekend.

Wilhelmina Francisco a junior now at Chelsea High School and former diver for Spring Lake High School, placed finished 13th out of 36 divers at the state meet.

She is the granddaughter of Evert and Molly Jungslager of Spring Lake.
