Spring Lake had nine wrestlers sport 2-0 records at the Lakers’ home quad on Wednesday, helping the hosts win a pair of matches to kick off their season.

Spring Lake beat Montague by a 48-27 score, and then topped Mona Shores, 57-23. Allegan also went undefeated at the quad, beating both the Wildcats and Sailors in convincing fashion.

“For the first night, we looked OK,” said Spring Lake head coach Dan Robinson. “We have a lot to work on being a young team and we were able to see tonight where we were good and where we need to improve. Each of the guys showed some positive signs and they just have to keep looking to improve each match.”

Going unbeaten in two matches for the Lakers were Austin Detweiler, Anthony Rolston, Kyle Edwards, Maxx Kriger, Gabe Giddings, Zack Kennedy, Shane Skorupski, and Billy Belcher.

Spring Lake returns to the mat on Saturday, as it travels to the Greenville Team Tournament.

Junior Varsity: Mason Dial and Danny Kamp went 2-0 for the Lakers, while Jordan Smant was victorious in his lone match.
