Spring Lake’s varsity wrestling squad flexed their muscles against a pair of Lakes Eight Conference foes in a quad meet at Ludington on Wednesday, resulting in the Lakers scoring two wins.

The Lakers routed the host Orioles, 69-9, and also edged rival Fruitport, 40-38.

Going 2-0 for the Lakers were Anthony Rolston, Kyle Edwards, Al Slajus, Mason Dial, Jared Marod, and Shane Skorupski.

"All in all a good night,” said Spring Lake coach Dan Robinson. “We had a lot of guys step up and win big matches, some upperclassmen like Al, Mason, Jared, and Shane wrestled really well. Anthony Rolston also had a huge win for us against Fruitport.”

Robinson also highlighted a good win from Austin Detweiler, who he said is improving each week.

The Lakers travel to the Bangor Individual tournament on Saturday, which begins at 10 a.m.
