Kooi makes 28 saves in goal for Bucs

Grand Haven’s Zach Kooi was dominant in goal with 28 saves, helping the Bucs’ varsity hockey team score a 3-0 shutout victory at East Grand Rapids on Friday.

After a scoreless first period, the Bucs’ offense got going in the second, starting with senior Tom Zelenka’s goal off assists from Asa Pellegrom and Ian Hibbard.

Chris Corgan then gave Grand Haven a 2-0 lead in the period, as he scored with assists credited to Brent Petersen and Jordan Klassen.

Pellegrom got into the goal scoring act in the third, with Hibbard recording his second assist.

Grand Haven, which outshot EGR by a slim 29-28 margin, improves to 10-5-2 overall with a 4-3-1 league mark.
