Grand Haven's boys ski team turned in a solid third-place place during the fourth Greater Grand Rapids Ski Conference meet at Caberfae Peaks in Cadillac on Saturday.
The Bucs had a tight group of finishers in the event, with Jack Griffin leading the way in 24th, followed by Kevin Stolarski (25th), Greg Page (31) and Jack Leitner (32nd).
Both the Spring Lake boys and Grand Haven girls were ninth in the slalom standings.
Spring Lake was led by Harrison Palmer and Alec Palmer in 8th and 16th, respectively, but the Lakers only had one other skier complete two runs.
“Tough day for our Spring Lake team, but we had some great individual efforts on a bitter cold and windy day,” said coach Gary Roberts.
Leading the Bucs' girls was Bailey Coval in 28th, but they too only had three skiers complete two runs.
They had a stronger showing in the giant slalom, as Grand Haven took fifth.
The Bucs had three inside the top 30, led by Lindy Vallier's 10th place showing. Casey Davis took 18th and Hannah Landman was 27th.
Grand Haven's boys were seventh in the giant slalom, while Spring Lake placed 10th.
Stolarski paced the Bucs with a 23rd place finish, while Collin Roberts had a stellar sixth-place showing for the Lakers, who were again hurt by just having three skiers score.
