Ian Hibbard scored a hat trick and also recorded a pair of assists as Grand Haven’s varsity hockey team pounded Northville on Friday, 5-2.
Northville actually scored first, but back-to-back goals by Hibbard, assisted both times by Tyler Ploeg, helped the Bucs claim a 2-1 lead.
Grand Haven’s Hayden Modaff and Tom Zelenka then scored to make it 4-1, with Hibbard assisting both scores. Tom Zelenka also assisted on Modaff’s goal while Jake Poel assisted on Zelenka’s score.
After Northville scored to make it 4-2, Hibbard scored his third goal fo the game, assisted by Patrick Ferris.
Mark Nalley made 25 saves to earn the win in net for the Bucs, who improve to 13-5-2 on the season.
Grand Haven will play in the Michigan Public High School Hockey Showcase in Chelsea next weekend. The Bucs take on Salem on Friday at 8 p.m., then play Northville again next Saturday at 6:15 p.m.
